Tplink Archer vr600 V2 problem in SNR MARGIN
Hey. Your help is needed. I bought a Tplink vr 600 modem after the Internet settings everything works but there are network crashes. SNR margin shows no higher than 7-8 and therefore crashes. But actually I have 18.4 snr margin. On other modems, this is not a problem. I thought the defect in the modem carried handed over bought a new vr600 brought again also snr shows below. What am I doing wrong ?. Firmware Archer VR600 (EU) _V2_170504. yes it works stably on 8961nd and on 8951nd and they have SNR MARGIN 18.4db. bought ABV store in Azerbaijan Baku. three different vr600 modems and they all have a MARGIN 6.4db SNR. actual SNR MARGIN 18.4db

I suspect that it has something to do with the line quality or ISP. I doubt that all the 3 Archer VR600 are faulty or something wrong.
You can change another phone line to connect to the DSL port of VR600; And please remove the splitter.
Besides, you can hard reset the VR600 by holding the reset button/hole for 10s with it powered on.
You can give a call to your ISP to get some help as well.
Any updates, please let us know.
Best regards.

Yep, I agree with you, it is the point. While in the meantime, it is so strange that all the 3 new VR600 are faulty.
If possible, you can give it a go with the suggestion mentioned before.
Any updates, you can let us know.
Best regards.

Still the same, you can return it and get a new one.
This time, if possible, you can test its performance at the store first.
Good day.

There is really nothing wrong with both modems , they are both obtaiing the near same sync rate.
The only marked differences you have got is the differece in line attenuation and snr margins and this is caused by the differences in modem chipsets.
The TD-W8951ND and TD-W8961ND both use a Railink / Trendchip chipset that is factory tweaked to gain the max sync rate out of the line and is best on short lines , that is why it has a line attenuation of 18.9db
The VR600 uses a newer Broadcom chipset and will have a slightly higher line attenuation of 24db , but being a vdsl modem will be more efficient at getting a lower snr margin.
The TD-W8951ND reports a cable length to the exchange as 1.3 Km.
The VR600 reports a cable length to the exchange as 1.7 Km
The Broadcom chipsets are designed for long lines and are more stable than a Trendchip chipset.
What you are really seeing is the difference in chipsets and the difference between an older adsl chipset and a newer vdsl chipset.
The TD-W8951ND is doing fairly good for being 5 6 years old and there is a possibility that it is misreporting the snr margins.
The VR600 will be a lot more stable than the TD-W8951ND or the TD-W8961ND.
The VR600 has twice the amount of ram of 128 mb as compared to only 64 mb for the TD-W8951ND and TD-W8961ND
