Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.3.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 170809 Rel.42095n

Hi I have setup the OpenVPN Server on my router using this page a a guide

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1237/?utm_medium=select-local

I have installed the OpenVPN client on my iPhone and iPad and I can connect successfully to my home network whilst away. It is for personal use only.

The question is how secure is this to leave running 24/7?

I reslise that nothing is 100% secure!

@JBJ

Hi, as far as I know, it is safe, first, you need copy the configuration file on the OpenVPN clients to build up the VPN connection first. Only you or people who have the configuration file can do that.

Second, to store the config file, we need login to the web UI, which means the computer need connects to the Archer VR2800, the wired connection, absolutely is trusted cause it is located in your house, for the wireless, devices need wifi password to join it.

Besides, even though they have connected to the wifi, to access the GUI, the login username and password are needed, you can create a complicated one.

May it help and have a nice day.
