Hello,

I have TP Link WPA-4420 (300Mbps) powerline extender to extend my network to the basement of my home.

There are no network cables there.

I just updated my Internet connection to fiber optics. If I connect my laptop straight to my router,

speedtest gives me 40/5mbps (down/upload)

When I run the speedtest from the basement I have 10/1 mbps at the most.

I just made a firmware update to TP Link, but there is no difference.

My router is Vodafone H 300s

From the picture attached, the powerline link rate between the 2 adapters are extremly slow, generally speaking, the speed is 30%-40% of the powerline link rate, combined with the obstacles, the actual speed will be slower. Try to change another outlets to plug the 2 adapters and plug them into the wall sockets directly.

After that, verify the powerline link rate and the actual speed you can get.

Besides, you can plug them into the same room to test their performance.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z

Why is the speed low between the adapters?

I can see they communicate with 38Mbsps, when the maximum speed is 40Mbps.

I get 10Mbps...

So in my view the loss is between my laptop and the adapter...Am i missing something?

Thanks for your answer :)

The speed on the utility is the powerline link speed, which is related to the powerline environment and some other obstacles.

It is suggested to change another sockets to plug them.

Besides, per I said before, the actual speed is about 30-40% of the powerline link speed.

I placed the two adapters very close, (kitchen-living room) on the same floor and it gave me 43/5Mbps

Thanks for your time :)
