Hi

im hoping somebody can help, ive got 3 deco m5's to help with signal around an old house with very think brick walls.

my broadband is provided by Plusnet, their provided modem / router is terrible. To try and get the system up and running I've taken an old router / modem (linksys X6200) put it into bridge mode and disabled the SSID. All good that works but only lan port 1 on the linksys will work which is where I plug the first deco unit into.

I have several items that need a wired connection so I'm wondering if I can use a network switch somewhere in the configuration to get me extra wired availability?

Or is there a way I can get the LAN ports on the linksys to work or to connect another router (no modem) so I can use the lan ports on that?

cheers in advance.

Hello, the linksys router works in bridge mode to synchronize the DSL connection with Deco works in router mode.

In this way, if you want to get more LAN ports, you can order an unmanaged switch, like TL-SG108 or so.

Or another way, you can setup linksys router as the modem router but with SSID disabled, Deco works in AP mode; then you can connect the devices to the linksys router by wired cable to get internet. While the Deco will lose some advanced features.

For the difference between the router mode and AP mode, you can refer to https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2399/

May it help and have a nice day.
