Model: Archer VR400
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Versione Firmware:0.2.0 0.9.1 v0070.0 Build 170719 Rel.63031n

Hi,

I've received the modem Sunday, I've installed it and configured it, the wired connection works, the internet connection works, the Wireless 2.4GHz works,

The Wireless 5Ghz on the configuration application is configured and working but is not available between the wireless networks to connect from any device.

Previously I had another TpLink modem that had both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz networks and both were visible and usable by all devices in my home.

This is the screenshot of the Tplink software

This is my wireless configuration and as you can see the only wireless visible is the 2.4GHz.

Can you tell me how to proceed.

Regards

Sabrina

@Tnimni

Hi, sorry for the delay.

May I know which button on the back of the router did you click, the reset button or Wi-Fi button?

Did you mean after clicking, the 5ghz would show up temporally, the disappear again

Have you tried to update the firmware to be the latest one:

ArcherVR400(EU)_V2_200706

Thank you very much.

@guZ

I finally solved the issue and 5GHz band works flowless.

Was just a fw problem, I updated to version

0.6.0 0.9.1 v0070.0 Build 200713 Beta.34548n

And now everything is ok.

There is also a nice new pleasant web interface.

Cheers

@SabrinaC

Hello Sabrina, from the picture attached, only one 2.4Ghz network detected; please confirm whether this device supports 5GHz; and please verify whether all your devices cannot detect the TP-Link 5GHz.

If your device can detect other 5GHz networks, you can use wifi analyzer or some third party to get the channel used; Then you can login to the web UI of the Archer VR400 to change the wireless channel.

Besides, you can hard reset it and verify whether you can detect the default wireless networks.

@Kevin_Z

saluti

Sabrina

Sorry I've written in italian, so I translate here: I've made further tests and discovered that the 5GHz wireless appears when I disconnect the devices from all Wireless Networks. I've tried to connect both Laptop and Android Smartphone to the 5GHz and the connection starts, the password is asked and I give it correctly, but after a few seconds the connection is refused and the device reconnects to the 2.4GHz. At this point it looks like the problem is that the devices are not compatible with this 5GHz version. Is there a way to be sure the problem is in the devices and not in something related to the Wireless configuration? Thanks Sabrina

@SabrinaC

Hi Sabrina,

I confirm to face the same identical issue:

- 5GHz band

- No other wifi ssid/signals (checked with wifi scanner)

- different client devices

- different wifi standards (a, n, ac)

- different band (auto, 20MHz, 40MHz, 80MHz)

always the ssid is only sometimes visible, many times auto authentication fails, few times connection is extablished.

I see online that this is a common issue so i guess it's FW problem.

Please solve, VR400 without 5GHz is not worth the money.

If using 2.4GHz band, everything works like charm.

My HW: Archer VR400 v2 00000000
My FW: 0.2.0 0.9.1 v0070.0 Build 170719 Rel.63031n

@guZ having the same problem with 5g band! I have just replaced the previous awful w8960N and realized that the 5g band is nowhere to be found!! Not from my iPhone 11 Pro nor my retina MBPro! Have to say that this a huge disappointment!! Probably I'll return it back tomorrow.

@jdawg2020

Do a manual firmware update even if your router GUI shows that it is up to date.

@SabrinaC

I confirm to face the same issue on my new device.

Device detail:

Hardware Version:Archer VR400 v2 00000000

Firmware Version:0.2.0 0.9.1 v0070.0 Build 170719 Rel.63031n

5GHZ SSID would be visible when I changed the channel width from Auto to 40MHZ.
It will be hidden if I set it back to 80MHZ, disappointed !!!
