Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V20
Firmware Version: latest

Morning!

I bought Deco M5 in hopes of improving network WiFi speed in my 2000sq home (single level).

My main modem is in my living room - connected via ethernet cable to one of Deco units.

The other two Deco pucks are in my office and bedroom.

Testing speed by the main deco unit (which is hardwired to modem) shows speed in the range of 225/11 (download/upload)

My office on the other hand can barely get to 30/10. This is not much better than what I had with a single router in my living room distributing WiFi signal for the entire house!

Interestingly enough when I run speed test in Deco app it shows 225/11 throughout the house. But when I pull up that same test (by Ookla) in Chrome the speed is drastically different room by room - and in my opinion, more accurate.

I keep thinking that I must be doing something wrong. Deco antivirus disabled, no priority devices, standard mode, 5Ghz. Is it possible that Deco isn't any better than a single router provided by Spectrum?!

Thanks,

Tom

@Exo3

Hi Tom, we can do some troubleshooting first to locate this issue and try to figure it out.

1. How far away between the Deco units? Try to move them closer and test the speed. With the 2 slave Decos unplugged, what is the speed you can get from the main Deco when you are in the bedroom/office with your computer or smartphone? Meanwhile, please click here to get the wireless negotiation speed.

2. Try to connect your computer to the slave Deco units by ethernet cable to verify the wired connection and test the speed.

3. Try to swap the location of each Deco and rule out whether it is the Deco itself or the location/network environment.

4. Besides, if possible, it is recommended to connect the Deco units by wired cable to give it a shot.

Good day.
