Maximum speed with VR2800 seems to only be 866Mbps. When will 160mhz work with this router?

Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.3.0 0.9.1

Hi there,

I recently purchased the VR2800 to speed up my home office wireless data transfer speeds, however I am struggling to get the most out of this device. I am only able to get an 866Mbps

My laptop contains an Intel ac-9260 card that features 160mhz width MU-MIMO for a theoretical connection rate of 1.73Gbps and your advertising said that 160mhz would soon be coming with a firware update, however there is nothing showing yet.

My questions are 1. Do you have any idea when we will see the 160mhz update?

                            2. What do I need at the client end to get anywhere near to the theoretical 2167Mbps you advertise on the 5ghz channel

Thanks

@CraftyClown

In answer to your question number 2:

Check out the product page for the VR2800. There it says it achieves that speed by combining "NitroQAM™ and 4-Stream technology" (incl. picture for illustration).

So, to get the full (theoretical) 2167 Mbps connection speed you need a client card that supports NitroQAM and 4x4 MIMO.

I just did a quick search on the internet and could only find one Wi-Fi card for Desktop-PCs that would meet the requirements. Do a Google search for "4x4 NitroQAM" to find it. (its from a competitor)
