Cannot access a VPN network under TP-LINK
Hi guys,
I`m having some issues with my TP-LINK Archer VR2100 (couldn`t select this model when creating the post, HW version and FW version are accurate though).
First of all, I want to say that I just replaced the modem, previously I had a crappy Zyxel which often needed to be rebooted, but except that, everything was fine, and the problem which I will describe next wasn`t present.
So, my main desktop PC is connected via cable to the modem, and on this PC I have a VM running. Under this VM, I have OpenVPN server and PiHole ,which is used as a local DNS also, for services like plex, etc. When I connect my desktop to the OpenVPN running on the VM via OpenVPN client, I cannot longer connect to the previously working FQDN. The IP itself to the specific service is pinging, and connecting extremely slow. I connect back the Zyxel, everything is fine. I connect back the TP-LINK, not working. I used the exact settings provided by the ISP, and copied all what I could from the Zyxel to TP-LINK, like IGMP settings, proxies, etc. On Zyxel, when I pinged the FQDN, it gave me the local IP, which is the result desired. With TP-LINK, it gives me the public IP (I have DynDNS running on host PC).
I lost 1 day tinkering around all settings, for the life of me I couldn`t figure it out. Anybody experienced anything like this? How to fix this issue? My ISP is blocking some ports which I need, so I need to have everything running under VPN on the VM machine. Please help
L.E. Forgot to mention in the post, if I use my android phone to connect to the VPN, everything works great. The issue is present when I try to connect the desktop PC to the VM running under it via VPN.
Thanks in advance for any input
Regards,
George
