Model: TL-PA7010P KIT
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.2.4_701113_171106_901 EU

Greetings to everyone.

With some time in hand, I've decided to give some attention to the LAN at home and right now I have 4 units (well, 3, but more of later), so I don't have to use wifi or pass cables to the bedrooms. While checking the router provided by my ISP (Huawei HS8247W), I did notice that the port where I had connected the unit that transmit signal to the other 3, the negotiated speed was 100Mbps, which I did found strange since all the 4 ports are Gigabit and the ethernet port advertised in the AV1000 is gigabit also.

The cable used was a Cat5e, so in order to exclude any issue, I did install a Cat6. No change. Next I checked the firmware version and it seemed it was not the latest one (7010PEU3.0_3_2_4b_13972_BCM960350_tpver_701113_171106_901.ggl, at least it was I thought because I didn't realize at that moment that that I had downloaded the firmware for the TP-PA7010 instead the one for the TP-PA7010P.

I did try to "upgrade" through the tpPLC tool but all the 3 times it returned with "error while upgrading". I thought that maybe I had to power cycle it (no, I didn't did that while trying upgrading). It never turn on again, not even a single led blink as for now...even if the controller, BCM960350, seems to be the same...

My questions are:

1. Is the negotiated speed correct? Did I misinterpreted the specs where it says Gigabit Ethernet Port or is it misleading marketing?

2. If the ethernet port is indeed Gigabit, is it a known bug?

3. If not a bug, maybe some kind of incompatiilty with the Huawei (unlikely in my opinion)

4. Is there any hope that I could do a hard reset to recover the unit?

Thank you all in advance.

@PeterRoc

Hi.

Fortunately, I've found this thread https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/97844 here at the forum and I have the unit working again. Just select the correct firmware for your model first with the your plc unit disconnected from the power socket. Plug it and do a scan. If the tool detects a unit in need of revocery just go ahead.

One question remains: how to make the ethernet controller negotiate 1000 instead of 100 with the Huawei router.
