Setting up router

I have just bought and installed a TL-WR84ON router. I have followed the installation instructions but am unable to do the quick setup, getting a message telling me that I am not connected to my TP-Link network. How do I connect my device to this network? Does "device" refer to the router, modem or computer? I have connected the router to the modem by running an ethernet cable from the WAN port of the router to a LAN port on the modem.

Hello, the "device" refers to your computer or phone, you need to connect your computer or phone to the WR840N router's network via cable or via Wi-Fi first.
