Hello,

I tried to setup the "Default password recovery" in my AC4000 but I can't get it to work. The router doesn't accept the mail server: mail.gmx.com. I tried mail.gmx.com:465 as well but this gives an error. These settings I already use for my NAS and works fine. So Uid&pw and mailserver are ok.

Anyone succeeded to setup the password recovery?

thx.

Hello, can I have the screenshot of the error message when you try to enter a mail server?

@Kevin_Z

Hi Kevin, if I only got a real error it should be more easy to find what is wrong.

I can not find where to set the port. For sure this format is not right.

Without the port it does save but it doesn't want to send a test mail.

The system log doesn't show errors.

Another user got this problem but never got an answer.

Hello, I'm sorry that this SSL/TLS email servers may not be supported on the current firmware of the C4000 router, while we have reported this to our R&D, this feature will be improved in the future.

Hi @Kevin_Z ,

I am very disappointed. I deliberately did not buy the cheapest router to ensure security. I expect a safe procedure for resetting an admin password. The fact that the mail functionality cannot work safely sounds like R&D from the dinosaur era.

Can you please let me know when I can expect this secure mail functionality in a new firmware?

thank you for your help,

best regards, Leon

Hi Leon,

As far as I know, this feature had been raised up to the development team for some time, while we cannot actually give you an ETA that when we will have it in the new firmware, sorry about that.

Please kindly pay your attention to the official website for any future firmware release, thanks a lot.
