AC1900 in Wireless Access Point Mode Dropping Internet Connection to Router
I have just set up a new AC1900 A9 in Wireless Access Point mode:
- It is updated with the latest firmware
- It is configured specifically as a Wireless Access Point during setup using Smart IP-DHCP for connection to the router
- It is plugged into the LAN port on a Hitron Modem/Router via the WAN port on the AC1900 as instructed in set up
- It is set up near the Hitron; the Hitron is not bridged and is still an active Wifi/LAN router
The problem:
After setting up the above configuration, testing and using the AC1900 it performs as expectded for about 18 - 20 hrs. Then the internet connection on the AC1900 drops (internet light goes to yellow) and internet wifi is not useable. I have to reboot the Hitron in order to restore an internet connection to the AC1900. Rebooting the AC1900 only does not fix the problem.
I say 18 - 20 hrs. as the connection drops sometime overnight after rebooting in the morning. It has happened twice in a row over the first two nights of using the unit.
More concerning is that it also takes down the wifi internet connectivity of the Hitron and any devices connected by wifi to the Hitron can't get internet. So all internet wifi connectivity is lost to all devices, not just those connected to the AC1900.
The internet from my ISP is still active as the wired LAN connection is unaffected and I can still get internet on my computer that is hard wired to the Hitron.
I have tried to troubleshoot cables, software settings, router configurations but nothing is obvious at this point. I have had to take the AC1900 offline otherwise all wifi internet is lost to every device every morning.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I can't seem to find the cause or solution to this issue so far.
