My issue is that the Powerline adaptor does not connect to the Tp Link router anymore (Model TD-W8970)
I've tried different ethernet cables and the routers LAN ports .
Is this a hardware or firmware issue.

Would you be able to provide some more details on the issue? What is your setup and are you able to ping the router? Does the client device connected to the 2nd wifi plug receive an IP address ok?
The base plug (non wifi) is a dumb device and does not require any IP configuration, the wifi plug however requires an IP address, this should be your starting point to diagnose this issue. Using the TP PLC app via a connected desktop may also help you identify the issue, if you plug the laptop/desktop with the app installed directly into the WiFi plug you should see it and hopefully both app.. if you just see the one adaptor its likely not communicating via the powerline.
