Hello,

I just recently bought the Archer T4U Plus adapter. While it has a official support for Mac and Windows OSs, I would like to know if it is going to add a compatible Linux driver because I tried to use it in a Ubuntu based OS and the receiver is not working nor being recognised.

It is expected to add Linux support to this adapter?

Best regards.

@Elektro

Sorry that we don't provide any official driver for the Ubuntu based OS, while the Archer T4U Plus use the same chipset as the T4U, which is RTL8812AU, you may check if you can use the driver for the T4U:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-t4u/#Driver

Please be aware that the official driver of T4U only supports Linux kernel 2.6.18 ~ 4.11. There is no official driver for higher versions, you can search for the latest driver on the third-party website such as GitHub, then try to install it on your Ubuntu based OS.

@Kevin_Z

Many thanks for your support and for giving me the chipset number. It seems that in other distros, like Arch Linux, there are working packages like this one

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl8812au-dkms-git/

I will give it a shot.

Best regards.

Are you sure the chipset for the Archer T4U plus is really the RTL8812AU ? Just asking because I think I saw somewhere it should be the RTL8822A My archer's T4U Plus USB ID is 2357:0115 And the box states: Model: Archer T4U Plus (EU) Ver:1.0 P/N: 0152502343 I'm having a really difficult time to have this device working in Kali linux, specially in the monitor mode. Maybe if TP-Link could confirm the exact chipset would help moving on. Any hint will be appreciated. Thanks, Janico

@Elektro @Janico try compile this one driver.

I successfully compiled it with kernel 5.4.0-72 on Ubuntu-based distro (Linux Mint). Also probably runs on kernel 5.8+ but not tested yet.

Hope this helps somebody :-)

@Elektro

Hi all,

Just to let you know that I have up & running the Archer T4U Plus in Centos 8. I've used the driver from https://github.com/morrownr/88x2bu-20210702 and taking into account this PR https://github.com/gordboy/rtl8812au-5.9.3.2/pull/11

If I can be of further help just let me know.

Cheers
