I get the following error logged every few seconds, clearing the log shows that within 3 minutes 56 logged enteries.
The system seems to be connected and can access the internet ok.
Searching the internet discovers many people with the same error logged.

6/23/2013 10:29:24> netMakeChannDial: err=-3000 rn_p=805509a0
6/23/2013 10:32:11> Last errorlog repeat 56 Times

Any ideas how to stop these errors?

Thanks.

Have no idea about how to stop the errors.
If Internet works fine on the modem, you can just leave the errors alone.

I live in canada and just got this modem/router... so far it is working but I have no clue why the system log is showing these errors:

6/25/2013 21:43:18> Call Failed
6/25/2013 21:43:20> netMakeChannDial: err=-3000 rn_p=80544b08
6/25/2013 21:43:31> Last errorlog repeat 11 Times

my new ISP is Teksavvy (the reason for getting this tp-link product.)

I also get this error every few minutes. Furthermore, the downstream CRC error count over the past 12 hours was very high (19699).

However, my Internet connection is fine.

I have emailed TP-Link support for an explanation and assistance.

Hi.
So your modem is also TD-W8961ND? Are you using VoIP phone?

no. I am just using it for DSL and wireless router... which is working quite well.

here is what the system log says today:

I went into interface setup and deleted PVC0 which I had tried to setup when i first got the device but switched to PVC2 to get working with my internet service...

system log now shows up like this:

After double checking it with TP-LINK support through emails, they say that sometimes a few errors just echos when the modem is trying to set up DSL connection, but it won't affect the modem or the connection. Only when the modem fails to dial up, will the error messages come to make sense. If the modem can connect to Internet without any problem and Internet connection is stable, the error messages does not make sense.

so, why TP link don't fix this log with new firmware? My internet connection just fine.
Few days ago, my internet connection keep dropping, when I saw this log I thought there are something wrong with my TD-W8961ND.
Then, I don't encounter any problem with my internet connection (so i'm assuming the problem lies at my ISP), but this error log keep showing in log.

It seems that there are some settings incorrect on the WAN site, have you tried to reset the router and reconfigure it?

Sometimes the modem seems to reboot itself, because i set it on PVC2 and few hous later it back to PVC0.
It also randomly disconnect about few seconds at night when most of my friends go home.

My modem restarting about 2-3 times a day. I don't know maybe because there are 40 PC/wireless device connecting to this device.
TP-link CS said this modem is can be used only to 10-15 people. Then why you allowed IP address count more than 200??? zzz.
I will buy new wireless access point and disable wireless feature of this modem to reduce the workload.
Other people said it will be better if I used mikrotik before switch and let mikrotik take care of IP address assignment. \

confirmed. happens to me, too. same device.

what the customer support tells you is complete and utter bullshit.
i am a software engineer and i assure you that a system is NEVER supposed to crash. especially an embedded system like a router.
first, it operates in the field of high availability and second the most critical thing that should happen is that transfers get very slow, near stalling, when there are "too many users" connected.
and even if there are 40 users connected to your device (which is ridiculously few, not many) they don't cause system load 100% of the time. the state "connected" does not imply any system whatsoever.

the reason this router crashes, restarts, whatever is simply very bad engineering/testing. that is, software is poorly designed and/or bad chips have been soldered onto the pcb.

[QUOTE=bangbangtang;112083]

the best you can do is buy a router from another vendor. tp-link is lowest level cheap consumer crap. i'm sorry but judging from how things work and how customer support reacts that's the truth.

to tp-link

i will retract my rant if you

get your ass up here and talk to us in a serious manner, not just waving us away to save costs
[*]release new and regular firmware upgrades - nobody on here want's to buy your crap every 6 months. customer retention, know that word??
[*]stop talking bullshit
