Region : Colombia

Model : TL-WR1042ND

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 3.15.4 Build 130117 Rel.65891n

ISP :

After many hors fighting with this router and the technical support that never respond, I came to a conclusion that this router cannot work reliable with WPA2 encryption. When I use WPA2 the router looses the administration capabilities and it doesn't respond to http requests. It responds to pings though, but is very erratically taking in average 800ms to get the ping back and more or less 45% of packets losts. Remember this router is in my local network.

If I change the router to work with WEP encryption it works with no problems but as the instructions says, 'WEP is not supported in the 811n standard so I bought an 300N router and I'm getting a very expensive 54g router.

Please TPLink, work on updating this firmware. I trusted your brand but I'm a lot dissapointed.

Has anyone had the same problem? Please post if you find this solution helpfull.

If you connect PC to the TL-WR1042ND (WPA secured) by a lan cable, can you login TL-WR1042ND on your PC ?
Can other wireless devices administrate the router ?
Have you tried to upgrade the driver of your wireless adapter ?

Hello Hernan,

It doesn't matter if the device is wireless or connected by ethernet to the router. The router does not respond in the admin pages.
This only happens when I configure WPA/WPA2 personal security. This doesn't happen in WEP.

This is not a problem for the wireless adapter because the problem is consistent in all of my devices (PC, Mac, Ipad, Iphone).

Thank you!
