Region : Argentina

Model : TD-W8968

Hardware Version : V2

Firmware Version :

ISP :

I have been trying to set up a game server but not had much luck. If NAT Loopback is supported then i must be doing something else wrong.

i have set up a few other game servers and forwarded the ports no problem. This one however is a little more fiddly so i don't know if i have set my game up wrong, or if the router just isn't good enough to support NAT Loopback so i can connect to the game via my routers external ip

Cheers for any info on this :)

Hi.
Regarding to TD-W8960N, as I know, only V3 with the latest firmware can support NAT loopback. Not sure if TP-Link will update V4 to make it support NAT loopback.

For TD-W8968, V1 with the latest firmware 130217 supports NAT loopback. TD-W8968_V2 has not come out yet. Maybe V2 can also support NAT loopback.

Your modem is TD-W8968? Or TD-W8960N? What is its hardware version?

OK, what do I wrong?
I´m using a no-ip account to update my dns.
The internet connection is by ADSL and everything works fine.
With my dynamic DNS I can get into my home-net by setting up a virtual server to forward the ports.
The only problem is, that i cant get on my computer when i use my mobile phone by w-lan and use my DNS name.
When i type in the IP-adress i can get on it.
I have a TD-W8960N V4 with firmware: 1.1.1 Build 120912 Rel.67406
Do I hav to bridge something or something else???

Best Regards

I also cannot figure this out. I have a TD-W8960N V4, Firmware Version 1.1.1 Build 140228 Rel.43206, and for the NAT tab
in "Advanced setup" I have the following options:

Virtual Servers (i.e. port forwarding)
Port Triggering (automatically opening ports from the LAN)
DMZ Host (more port forwarding)
ALG (six checkboxes)

Nowhere can I see loopback NAT/hairpin NAT.

Can the TD-W8960N v4 really do it? If so, how?

Same question here with a TD-W8960N v5.
Loopback works perfectly on my old router but does not work on the TP-Link.

Has anyone actually got it to work?

Old thread, but I thought I would update with some news.

After my ticket was passed to the senior engineers regarding this issue they eventually discovered why users are reporting that NAT loopback is not working on the TS-W8960, yet their testing proves otherwise. They found that NAT lookback does not not work in PPPOA mode. The confusion arose because previously they only tested in PPPOE mode where NAT lookback works fine. A week later (2nd March 2016) they provided me with beta firmware which resolved the issue. Note, I don't think the beta firmware has been released yet so you will need to contact support to obtain it. My router version is v6.

Thanks Cryptic! You really saved me a lot of time on this. I can confirm that this is still not supported for the TD-W8960N V4 and tplink no longer supports it so they can't offer no beta firmware for it. I know because tech support told me after several days of back and forth (that were cut short thanks to your comment Cryptic!).

You're welcome. I'm glad to hear someone found my post of benefit. However, it is a shame that your device is no longer supported.
