The increment in version is likely due to a chipset or hardware change in the device, it wont affect the performance in any way.   Both devices will operate identically

It could be that v8 used a chipset 1234...  its no longer available and its replacement is the 1234a which is v9... likely exactly the same just a newer release of hardware

Either will be fine for home use to be honest!
