Hi, I have a TP Link WDR3500 router, the "Media Server" function, doesn't work right, it take the .mp4 video file as if they were music files, but mp4 files are video & audio files; also it doesn't recognize the .mkv video files at all. I was planning to buy a 2TB HDD and a HDD Dock station to connect the hdd into the router's usb port to build a Media server to use with My SmartTV, my PC , Smartphone and a WDTV Live, but this bug, makes the Media server function useless.

there is any way to fix this bug?

Hello,

With all the TP-Link routers, the media server doesn't work properly.
Further more, the new firmwares are worse than the preceeding.
TP-Link support is aware but the R&D department seems not capable to write the right code... or don't care...

Try this. Rename one of the file extension from .mp4 to either .avi or .mov

If I remember correctly I had to rename videos from my iPod Touch from .mp4 to .avi or .mov before either the TP-Link DLNA server or my DLNA app can recognize them.
