5ghz started dropping a few days ago. Now it won't connect, says the password is incorrect etc. Have tried resetting the password, no luck.

Owned since 2018 - Is the expectation these things might only last a few years and then burn up?

The device life expectancy can't be predicted with high level of certainty.

There were devices that lasted more than 10 years, while still operational and others that failed on the second year of usage.

In your case it may not be a device HW failure but an OS issue.

Try forgetting the wireless network from your list of available wireless networks on your mobile/PC and then re-connect as if this is a brand new wireless network.

If that doesn't help change your wireless network SSID and then connect to the new wireless network.
