Need help to setup Tp link as an extender
Hi Team,
Today I bought this C20 product but after setting up (extender) from hotspot it is showing that connection is not established with the main network (internet provider).
I tried many possibilities by watching YouTube and your help video's but no luck.
I tried with Quick setup option.
Note: in system logs it is showing " Discover DHCP service failed ". Also in status WDS is showing Connecting

Hi,
What kind of hotspot are you trying to connect to?
If you connect to that hotspot with a smartphone or computer, are connected to the Internet right away?

Ok, then let's try to extend the hotspot of your own smartphone first.
I suggest you perform a Factory Defaults Restore on the C20 and then go through the Quick Setup again and apart from selecting the SSID of the smartphone's hotspot and entering the correct Password for that hotspot do not change any settings, just press Next until you are through the Quick Setup and the C20 reboots.
Then check if the C20 has connected to the smartphone's hotspot or not.

Hi @woozle
That's work(with correct hotspot password).
But default tp link web went down(192.168.0.1).Only tplinkwifi.net is working.
Warning:
Again all went down(including internet, web ip and hostname). Now not able to access the UI.
And why it is not working with new password we are providing during quick setup?

The password you enter during the Quick Setup has to be the Wi-Fi password of the SSID you want to connect to. (be it your smartphone's hotspot or JioFi)
If you were to change the Wi-Fi password of your smartphone's hotspot, then the C20 would not be able to establish the connection anymore.
Furthermore, if the C20 has no connection to the hotspot, then the C20 could become inaccessible to you, because it relies on the hotspot's DHCP server to assign IP addresses.
The Smart IP(DHCP) feature will automatically configure the Archer C20's LAN IP address to be an IP address within the same subnet as the hotspot.
If you log into the C20's configuration webpage via tplinkwifi.net, in the menu "Network" -> "LAN" you should be able to see the C20's new LAN IP address, I think.
If you find no way to acces the router's UI anymore, then you need to restore the factory default settings by pressing and holding the Reset button of the router.
And yes, properly setting up a Range Extender can be cumbersome at times.
