Hi,

 

I set up OpenVPN using the web UI today. While I was searching for guides in Google, I noticed that OpenVPN can route specific subnet/IP traffic to the VPN tunnel only.

 

However, I cannot find a way to do it in the TP-Link web UI.

 

I want to prevent clients from accessing anything except my Synology NAS at home.

 

Is it possible to set it in the UI? If not, are there any workarounds?

 

(My hardware version is 1.2)

Another feature I want is user management (e.g. different connection profile for different users, user credential, etc.).
 
Maybe I am asking too much? But the ability to give different users different profiles (e.g. Give a profile that only allow file sharing/ gaming server access to friends) is very useful.

If you want different user profiles for the VPN, then I think you would need to get a business grade VPN router. (maybe a home grade router with a third-party firmware like OpenWrt would do as well)

 

By the way, if your Synology NAS is a more recent model, then you could setup the OpenVPN server on it instead. It offers an option called "Allow clients to access server's LAN", which, if disabled, sounds like it would limit users to access to the NAS only.

  @woozle 

I am choosing between buying a separate raspberry pi 4 for vpn, setting up vpn on the NAS or buying a better router. Not sure which is the best option...

 

If only my router can do morelaugh I should have done more research when buying a router
