RE650 connected to VR900v via Wifi but no Internet
Hallo zusammen,
Fool

Hi together,
so i just bought a Range Extender TP-Link RE650 (V2) today and connected it via wifi (2.4g & 5g) to my router TP-Link Archer VR900v (V1) .
The wifi connection according to LEDs or status page are connected, but the internet is not working. The status is "unknown" according to the status page.
All LEDs are on. I tried different processes for the setup (app & browser) but neither worked for me. Also i tried to use the auto IP & dhcp with no change.
Further a ping request just works within the RE environment. If i try to ping a device which is directly connected to the router it is not working.
Unfortunately my router does not support one mesh, thats why i use the RE in range extender mode. Is this the cause why i can't ping devices which are not directly connected to RE? How can i access the devices connected to the router?
I added some screenshots for my requested setup and also from the current settings of RE and router.
Would appreciate if someone can help me out.
Thank you and best regards,
Fool

@Solla-topee Hi, thank you for the Support. Firmware can be found on Page 3 of the PDF at the bottom line. Should be the newest Firmware based on tplink Website. Build 20210907 Tel. 71667(6985)
I will try the provided Screenshot configuration later this day

@Fool89 Got it, feel free to let us know how it goes~

@Solla-topee unfortunally it is even worth. Now the connection between RE and Router is also yellow. And within the router I can't find the RE anymore. Is it necessary that the IP range from the RE DHCP is also within the DHCP range of the router? Currently I set DHCP at router to 2-199 and DHCP of Re to 201 - 230.

@Fool89 I still insist on asking you not to set a specific IP for it unless you set it on the router too and interlace the MAC of the repeater because a disconnection can happen and the router simply gives another IP and your whole network goes into disconnections, automatically use and turn off DHCP let the router give the IPs to the clients, this device plays the clients on the router's DHCP base it n does not generate IPs autonomously, even when calling and giving a range of IPs for it to work, it will generate an error, I know because I already tried this on my RE650, and as an experience I say to leave everything not automatic mode.

@Fool89 I'll show you how I configure mine in.
If you don't use it in OneMesh, this configuration that I showed in the images is enough for it to work correctly and not give you headaches.

Hello @Fool89
To be honest I'm not sure the specific reason, but all the manual I found suggests RE IP address pool should be within IP range of the main router when you manually configure RE's IP range/ DHCP settings. https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2965/

@Fool89 my current network is formed by these devices.
The RE650 unfortunately does not enter the OneMesh network but switching between devices until the RE650 works fine even without being in Mesh, so I say that the RE650V1 supports OneMesh, only the Tp-Link engineers want to put it, so with my experience I say that it may be the problem of this IP that you are putting it manually. If you are not in Mesh, avoid manual configuration, unless you set an IP for the repeater on the router and interlace it with the MAC of the same, because if you don't, any disconnection will make the router deliver another IP to the repeater, then you will have headaches, and about the DHCP function I say the same thing, it is better to leave it in automatic mode (auto), because the repeater does not distribute IPs who does this is the router so let the router of the IPs, if it is going to fix IPs do the same, but on the router and not on the repeater, and always doing as I said fixing the IP through the MAC of each device in question.

@Andrsouzaaa as already told i started with no fixed IP set but there was already the error active. So I tried to go one with the fixed IPs but there was no change.

@Fool89 could you show me the settings used by your router in the Internet LAN tabs, and in the Wireless part ????

So after i upgraded the router from Vr900v towards VR2100v all is working as expected (even with ip reservation).
All devices can reach out to each other nevertheless if they are joined to the same device (router vs. range extender) and also have internet access.
Only worry i have is i also got an TL-SG105S unmanaged Switch directly connected to the range extender. If i connect only my PC towards the switch i have internet as expected. If i connect also another computer to the switch i only have access to local devices via IP but don't have internet access. Any clue why this might happen?
