I have connected a hdd to the usb port of the router and in windows network it appears only as a media device and can't mapp it as a storage device.

Help appreciated.

Hello, can you show us some screenshots of the issue you are experiencing? If you insert the HDD into the computer directly, are you able to view all files and folders?

 

Are you able to access other files or folders when you access it via SMB as described in this FAQ?
