Model: TL-WA1201
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.1
Hello,

I bought a TL-WA1201 router to install Free WiFi with captive portal in my business.

In order to separate the networks and not let my customers have access to computers, printers,... I want to separate the networks.

The router manual says this is possible by changing the VLAN IDs of each SSID.

So I created SSID2 'Free Wifi' by setting VLAN 2 (which the user manual explains)

But when I do this, the wifi network does not have access to the internet.

do you know what i can do?

Thank you !

Update : I do a firmware upgrade.
I'm now with the 1.0.2

SSID 1 with VLAN 1 works

SSID 2 with VLAN 2 didn't work

SSID 3 with VLAN 3 didn't work

SSID 4 with VLAN 4 didn't work

If i put VLAN 1 it all work, but not with 2/3/4 VLAN.

To be able to configure multiple VLANs working with TL-WA1201 you need also a router/switch which is VLANs capable - check this guide for more info.

More details regarding similar request have been discussed here.

That's because usually VLAN capable switches/routers are discussed in the business community to which the second link guides.

Thanks, i know now :D I didn't have a switch like this. I thought of a plan B suddenly, I have a second router which is initially configured in 192.168.3.1 and it does not communicate with my devices. My internet box is configured at 192.168.1.1 Is it possible to configure the router in 192.168.2.1? Do you have a post to recommend to me? I couldn't find anything on that either unfortunately.

If your router supports guest wireless network feature this would do the job to isolate your private network from visitors(guests) network.

If it doesn't support guest wireless network but you have two routers you could simply isolate the visitors(guests) network from your private network like so:

1. Configure the first router for the guests in 192.168.1.0/24 subnet (for example)

2. Configure the second router for your private network in 192.168.2.0/24 subnet (for example) with its WAN port connected to the first router LAN port.

This way users of both routers would have an Internet access but their subnets would be isolated from each other, because of the second NAT (in the second router).
