Model: RE200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 3.14.3 Build 211101 Rel. 11477n

Trying to set up an old RE200 as my smart home subnet repeater which is a network that is hidden. I can connect to it but cannot hide the repeated signal SSID. Can and how would I go about doing that?

You could use these controls for that purpose:

  @terziyski what site/app is that you are using? I am unable to get the tether app to connect to the extender so I have been using http://tplinkrepeater.net/. The closest I see to your screenshot is the one I added, but there's no option for hiding it. I'm wondering if this device and its firmware are too old to do this potentially.

  @Zschalberg

Yes, the WebGUI is on http://tplinkrepeater.net/, but as you guessed the FW is the reason for that visual difference - my screenshot is from HW v2.

What you can try is to configure the extender using Connect To Existing Network Wizard, scan the 2.4GHz band and select the hidden network:

Copy its BSSID (MAC address) and paste it on the next screen:

Then for 5GHz band you can select:

Click Next and if everything is OK, you should click Finish on the next screen.

If that doesn't work, I don't believe that you'll be able to hide the extended network.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue and mark the post as a "Recommended Solution".
