RE200(EU)V5 keeps renaming my networks to be the same as the host network
Hello.
Today I changed my main router and network, and I had to reconfigure my RE200 range extender. I also upgraded the firmware (to 1.0.23 Build 230418) thinking it can't hurt, but I think that's what causing the main problem.
1. I tried to name the 2GHz and 5GHz networks with different names, so that I know what I'm connected to, like this:
Both host networks: mynet
Extended 2GHz: mynet2ext
Extended 5GHz: mynet5ext
(I saw here in the knowledge base that it's recommened to name them the same as the host network, which seems confusing, but also here in the forum I saw you recommend to name them something different, like I always did)
2. If I do this using the quick setup wizard, the two new networks appear for about a minute, I can't connect to them, and then they disappear. If I do it from the "Wireless" menu, it says "Operation successful" but after 20 seconds it says "Operation failed". In any case, it always goes back to all 4 names being the same.
3. I did a hard reset a few times and it keeps happening. Eventually I realized it works with all 4 networks having the same name, for now, but I really want to understand if it can work better.
4. Also, tplinkrepeater.net worked well in my desktop browser at first, but now it never works no matter what I try (except to reset all settings, again). Does this mean that I'm not connected to the extender right now? But I can connect ok from the tplink app on my phone.
5. I saw in the forum that maybe EasyMesh is forcing the names to be the same, but it's not supported by my router, and it's OFF. (well, in the web interface it seems to be ON but it says it's not supported, while in the phone app it's called OneMesh and the toggle is OFF).
So please explain: what is happening?
Can I keep the network names different?
Is it recommended? Why is it better or worse?
Should I go back to firmware version RE200_V5_230220 or RE200_V5_230418?
Thanks for all your help
