Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.3 Build 20201022 Rel. 66896

Hi all got a strange problem and its honestly doing my head in. Ive bought a TP Link re220 just to boost the signal upstairs. Works fine and devices can connect to it. However a certain device will not connect to the extender however it will connect to the router just fine, will also connect to other routers and hotspots in different locations. Ive found a work around and im wondering if someone may know the solution to what may be happening

Logged into the TP link and the default gateway, primary DNS and secondary DNS were not set to my default gateway however when i changed this to the correct gateway it works as it should do? ill be honest ive fixed this completly by accident as im ok with networking just not brilliant. However if i change DCHP back from "on" to "Auto" it doesnt work again.

Unsure if im missing something, confused why I have to change certain settings when it works fine with other devices

Are you using RE220 in AP mode ? Can you post a screenshot of your RE220 network settings ?

Besides you default gateway is there any other router/modem device in your LAN ?

In any case you should have only one active DHCP server in your LAN.

hi many thanks for the reply. It's not in AP mode, there are no other router or modem devices. I've attached a picture of my settings. I've had to put DCHP on "on" instead of auto because if I leave it auto it fills with 192.168.0.254 on default gateway and primary DNS. I've tried also turning DHCP off completely however that's also not working.

I have this afternoon tried it with another extender and I've got the same outcome. Other devices wil connect but my Steamdeck will not connect to the extension.

For some reason your Steamdeck doesn't like the DHCP "auto" setting on RE220, 192.168.0.254 is the defualtt RE220 IP address.

DHCP server "auto" setting on RE220 means that if there's an active DHCP server already in your LAN to disable RE220 DHCP service, otherwise to enable it.

Since RE220 took the 192.168.0.8 as its IP address from your Default DHCP server, you can leave the RE200 DHCP server to "on", but make sure to set its DHCP server range outside your default DHCP server range, i.e. non-overlapping:

Default DHCP server range - 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99

RE220 DHCP server range - 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199

and your Steamdeck should be fine.

If your Default DHCP server range (I assume that's your default gateway (192.168.0.1) DHCP server) is 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99 then yes, you should.

Yes, as I posted earlier, the range should be: 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99 (non-overlapping with the RE220's range)

So, you have to change the "Ending IP Address" only: 192.168.0.254 => 192.168.0.99.
