Model: TL-WR802N
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I have a TL-WR802N device and I want to use it as a WiFi hotspot. I have configured it according to the manual (WISP).

When started, I connect a PC to this new Wifi network, and second device (iPad). From the PC I launch a "ping" on the iPad and I observe the following:

when the Internet access point (a box) is present, the ping works perfectly. But when the Internet is not present, the ping detects some time-out (probably a lost of packet).

I don't need Internet access, I just need to connect PC and IPad...

Did somebody experiment such troubles and if yes, is it a way to prevent it ?

Regards.

Paul

@Paul29

Hello Paul, what if you change the operation mode to Router, will you still experience the same time-outs when pinging from the PC to the iPad?

If there is no need for internet, you can also try configuring the WR802N as an AP, and use static IP addresses on the PC and iPad (different IP addresses but in the same subnet, the gateway should also be the same), then check if the PC and the iPad can communicate with each other without an issue.
