Model: TL-SG1008
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I recently bought a TL- SG1008 and I note in the instructions that it say it should be mounted/used bottom side down.

The question is: can the device be mounted vertically as it would be much more convenient (and neater) for the space I have available to have the entry ports facing up and the power cable facing down.

I can manufacturer a solution to mounting it firmly this way using the provided rack mounting points and/or bracket. It would likely have better all round air circulation too as I could build a standoff into the mount. Only negative I can think of is that facing up the unused ethernet ports would be dust traps. There are simple solutions for that too and there might even be RJ45 blanking plugs available for just such purposes.

So as long as the TL-SG1008 is securely mounted is there any reason it cannot or should not be used in this orientation?

Thanks for any advice.

The SG1008 is a passive and un-managed switch, it can be used in any direction you wish.   Using this vertically wont be an issue :)

You can find cheap plastic/silicone plugs and use them. I bought a few of them from ebay/Ali-express in the past and I still have them around.
