Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.2 Build 20220401 Rel. 63997

Since the signal reaches me poorly in my garden, I would like to attach a RE450 extender outside.

Is this a good idea or is it confusing?

If yes, I would like to know if in the extender give it the same name as the main wifi network I use at home or a new SSD type xxx_EXT?

Thank and good weekend

Hispa

  @Hispanico

I say this because I already have one  (RE450) at home that I used before taking the Deco

Thank

  @Hispanico

Hi, I would suggest using different SSIDs, like xxx_EXT.

Here is what I think:

Deco Mesh and OneMesh protocols are not compatible and when you moved from Deco x20 to RE450, There might be a noticeable delay and some devices might even fail to roam to RE450. Different SSIDs will help you manually pick up the expected network and manually connect to a stronger signal, especially for stationary network devices.

And there is also a benefit of having the same SSID that It could reduce the roaming delay between Deco X20 and RE450.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
