Hello,

the VR300 is often disonnecting and by that I mean fully. I can't access it directly through cable, I can't access it through WIFI, nothing works. The LED is blue, but I can't connect to the router via any method.

 

The only thing that helps is turning the modem off - wait - on. Then it works for couple of hours before it collapses again.

 

Windows says it's IP configuration issue - which kinda makes sense to me because from time to time, when I open link in a new tab in a browser, it doesn't connect to the web-page and I have to refresh it the tab to finally get to the page.

Not sure why, cause I would think the log is kept even through the turning on and off, but obviously not and the log ends today when I had to restart the router. So I can't even ever troubleshoot it.

 

Any idea what is happening?

Check your network configuration - the message for an IP conflict means that the IP address of your Windows computer is conflicting with another device on your network.

That's probably the reason for not opening some web pages and loosing access to the VR300.

The router keeps it's logs until rebooted - It's better to upload VR300's log file in your post message:

Also check if you have set any address reservations in your VR300.

By the way - there's a new FW for your device - here. If automatic update is not possible - here's how to upgrade FW manually.

if you think that's not the case, describe your network topology and settings in more details for the troubleshooting purposes.

  @terziyski Hi, thank you for your answer. Unfortunately if this was the case, I would be able to connect with any other device. I would be able to connect with my phone or with my other computers which is not the case unfortunately. Neither cable, neither wifi works. To me it seems its the modem failing to distribute ip addresses properly.

 

There is a range for other router to connect to the VR300 - this router has its address set to 192...2 The range for router dynamic ips is 192...10-192...254. 
 

I am also able to connect to the router on the 192...2 when VR300 doesn't work without any issue which again signs that its not the Windows issue but it is the VR300 issue.

 

I will check the update since automatic update didn't find anything and come back with the outcomes. Hope this can help 🥺

 

EDIT: i will just add that the other router is in bridge mode with dhcp turned off. It doesn't have wifi. It's the VR300 cable connection and wifi that is somehow not working out of the sudden.

Similar behavior can be seen when on the network there's more than one DHCP server and their IP address pools are overlapping.

I would suggest to change your addressing scheme and set the second router with a LAN IP address of 192.168.1.254.

If VR300 is the only active DHCP server in your network, then set its DHCP Server pool to 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.100.

I still can't imagine what this second router does in bridge mode with an IP address of 192.168.1.2 and DHCP server OFF.

I would guess, you've connected VR300 with a PPPoE session, which goes through the second bridged router (an ISP modem ?).

Also on which device (VR300 or the second router) "range for router dynamic ips is 192...10-192...254" ?

I've seen cases when a lot of connects / disconnects of the PPPoE session causing similar behavior too - if that's the case, you should have these in the VR300 logs.
