Model: Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: ‪1.6.0 0.9.1

I purchased the Archer MR600 to have a backup LTE connection to my existing DLS connection. The DSL router model is TP-LINK N600 TD-W9980.

I got it all working when plugging the switch in to a LAN port of the MR600 and plugging the WAN port of the MR600 to the N600. The MR600 I set to "wireless router mode".

The problem is that I need to move the MR600 away from the N600 to obtain better 4G reception but I only have one Ethernet cable running to the destination.

Is there a way to configure the above setup using only one cable?

Hi, do you mean there is a switch between the N600 TD-W9980 and the MR600?

If so, I am afraid you will need at least two Ethernet cables, however, if the cable is long enough, you could consider connecting the MR600 to LAN port of N600 TD-W9980 directly via one Ethernet cable.

Thanks, Yes, I want there to be a switch between them. If that is the case, is there a way to configure the N600 as the primary router and have it fail over to the MR600 if DSL goes down?

Yes, using a switch in between will require at least two Ethernet cables, you could also connect them directly without the switch, and you could refer to the instruction below to set up the Archer MR600:

That is how I currently have it set up. It still doesn't solve the two cable issue though.

Thanks  @Sunshine
