Hello,

 

I have been attempting, without success, to configure IPv6 on the AX3000, which is currently set up as a NAT router behind an ISP router. I have successfully used IPv4 on the AX3000 for the past year and a half without any issues.

 

To begin, I configured the ISP optical router (Huawei HG8145X6) to enable the routing of IPv6 traffic. To test this setup, I connected to the ISP router using an Android phone over WIFI and visited the web page https://test-ipv6.com/. The test results showed a successful setup with a score of 10/10.

 

Next, I enabled IPv6 on the AX3000 with the internet connection type set to "Dynamic IP." For the IPv6 LAN configuration, I chose "SLAAC+Stateless DHCP" and used the default MAC address and firewall rule. The AX3000 appeared to receive an IPv6 address from the ISP router, as well as an IPv6 DNS servers, and also had a LAN IPv6 address. However, when I connected the same Android phone to the AX3000 and attempted to test using the same web page, https://test-ipv6.com/, the page indicated that the device had no IPv6 address.

 

From my Windows 11 Pro PC behind the AX3000, I do have an IPv6 address. I can use this address to ping the PC itself and also the "LAN IPv6" address of the AX3000. However, when I test the browser using the same web page, I receive the same result of "no IPv6 address."

 

Do you have any insights into where I might have made a mistake? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, since there is an ISP router in front of the AX3000, it is recommended to configure the AX3000 as Access Point mode to avoid double NATs:

If you still prefer to use Router mode on the AX3000, please change the IPv6 Internet Connection Type from Dynamic IP to Pass-Through(Bridge), then check if IPv6 connection works fine.

You can't use AX3000 in AP mode to build a OneMesh - check this FAQ - Q8/A8.

Thank you so much for your help! Your solution worked perfectly.

 

BTW, the AX3000 is configured as a NAT router instead of an AP because I have RE extenders connected to it in a OneMesh/EasyMesh configuration. I also use the ISP router as an access point for some devices. This is why neither the ISP router nor the AX3000 is configured as a bridge.

 

Is there a way to have a onemesh setup with the AX3000 operating as an AP?
