Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have an existing Technicolor fiber-optic modem/router.

Speed Test shows at least 500mps.

I bought two X20s.

How can I get 500mps on each X20?

WiFi Router mode
- x20 Main: 500+mps
- x20 satellite: 250mps

Access point mode

- x20 Main: 350mps

- x20 satellite: 350mps

- created a new personal network for the X20s.

- ran an ethernet cable from the modem/router to the Main X20.  The laptop next to it gets 500mps. Great.

- ran another ethernet cable from the modem/router to the 2nd X20. However, it only gets 100mps.

- the 2nd X20 picks up WiFi from the Main X20 as opposed to getting data from the ethernet cable.

How do I get the 2nd X20 to use the ethernet cable, instead of the WiFi from the Main X20?

You will need to configure Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode: How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

General information on how Deco units can use Ethernet cable is here: General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco

I did configure Mesh to run Access Point, but then Main X20 went from 500mps to 350mps!!

It is unlikely the speed drop is because Deco mesh runs in Access Point mode.

Power off both Deco X20 and your modem/router. Power them back on - modem/router first, then X20s. Run speed tests again.

Also, you didn't tell if Satellite X20 is using Ethernet now and what is the speed from that X20.

  @CBDforDogs

Hi, if both Deco need to be connected directly to the ISP modem router, Deco needs to be on the Access Point mode.

Access point mode

- x20 Main: 350mps

- x20 satellite: 350mps

Can I have some details of how you run the speedtest on Deco X20?

If you are connected to the wifi of Deco X20, please also refer to this link to help me check the link speed on the clients:

Wait for your reply.

best regards.
