Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.5.1 Build 20210204 Rel 50164

I have 6 Deco's (see diagram). All worked fine until a few weeks ago when the all the deco's except for the one connected to the modem crash several times a week. I have tried to determine if one particular unit or cable is faulty by paring the network down to 2 decos and then adding them back. The system is stable for a few days then crashes again.

I have the latest firmware installed.

I've also included some log files.

  @Yohome Hi, it seems no clue in the log file. A question is that when the deco network "crash", what the detailed situation is. Did all the devices connected to decos except for the main deco lose connection to Internet at the same time immediately? Because I notice that there are just two decos showing red exclamation mark in your screenshots.

  @Yohome

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Have you noticed any satellite Deco units turn red during the disconnection?

  •  From the attached pictures, it seems like two M5/M9 plus. Would the disconnection always occur to any of the M5/M9 plus units, not the other satellite X60?

Did all the 5 satellite Deco units wirelessly connect to each other? Or can I have a picture of the signal source on the Deco APP?

By the way, the current firmware of Deco M9 plus and M5 both support connection preference. Have you checked whether each satellite Deco connects to the closest uplink Deco?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP Thanks for replying.
To your questions.

1) four of the units are connected by Ethernet Backhaul. The drop the same as the units connected by Wifi. They all drop at the same time. The only unit that stays up is the main unit. It does strange things. For example devices (computers/pads) that don't have the guest wifi password are visualized as connected to guest, Other devices show up as connected via ethernet when they are physically not connected to the ethernet in the home.

2) when the units disconnect they are show as disconnected in the app and the light tuirns red

3) No difference between the different Decos - X60/9/5. they all drop.

4) I tried to determin which units might be causing the problem or defective by starting with on unit and then adding until the system crashed. The two showing as disconnected are not connected to electricity.

I've found that there is a recent firmware upgrade for my X60 and M5 and perhaps this will help (I have been in touch with TP Link support and they are almost worthless in actual "technical" support.)

The new firmware  does (Deco X60(US)_V2.6_1.5.2 Build 20230908) not show up automatically in the app or web view, so I need to upload the bin file.

The screen with the upload has been at the same place for 15 minutes and his is a wire connection. Any suggestions?

I'm trying from two Windows laptops.

One laptop has problems accesing the deco web interface, everytime I move to a new menu, it pops me out and requests the password again (I also tried incognito, same problem). I did try to uploud the bin from this PC, just kept chugging along for 15 minutes.

The other laptop does not have the password problem, but the upload screen has been up for 30 minutes.

Also, I have two X60. I don't know if it's uploading to one of both - or if it's confused as to the target device

In Deco Web interface, you can choose which Deco model to upgrade. Also, you can login to specific Deco unit, through its IP address and with same password as Main Deco login, and you can update that unit individually.

On Windows, after you unpacked firmware ZIP file, the BIN file may have been blocked by Windows as untrusted. You must unbock it, or browser during upgrade will get stuck with no meaningful error message.

Close browser, right click on BIN file and in file properties Unblock it, here is screenshot:

  @Alexandre.

That worked for the M5 perfectly. Uploaded, upgraded and rebooted

For the X60 - I tried to upload directly to one X60 (not the main one) and it uploaded in split second, but never said it was installing or rebooting. I manually rebooted, still on the same version.

I then tried to update the main unit on .1 and this one got stuck on the upload. I tried from two laptops and made sure the bin file as unblocked,

Thanks
