Think the title of this thread will give sufficient info about the problem.

 

we have a new BT Smart Hub (sent by BT to replace the old home hub that also had poor RSSI to the doorbell) and new Ring Video Doorbell (2nd gen) about 3m away from the router, with and RSSI in the -70s

 

would a TP-Link router be any better and is there one that would work with BT Halo fibre on OpenReach please?

WiFi signal strength can be affected by the environment etc., but 3 meters away is not far unless there are thick walls or other obstacles between them.

You could consider changing another better WiFi router or add a range extender to increase the WiFi coverage.
