Dear community

I have configured the Archer C24 router in access point mode according to the instructions (Archer C24 is connected via ethernet to the main modem/router located in another floor on my flat).

I have changed the default SSID and the password of the AP to the ones of the "original" SSID of the main modem/router.

How can I be sure that client devices are roaming seamlessy between the main router and the AP?

Thanks

You can't be sure of that because the roaming between your main router and C24 depends on the client devices themselves.

You only can test that by setting C24 SSIDs differently and then see how smooth is the roaming observing the current SSID to which a client device is connected.

Thanks for your reply.

This implies that if I use the "range extender" mode instead of the AP mode, I can observe the "same" SSID and not the secondary one generated by the C24.

The dilemma is: should I use the AP mode with another SSID and a strong signal or the range extender with "nominally" the same SSID?

Which is recommended for extending the wifi coverage on a 2-storey apartment?

Thanks again

In both cases (AP mode or RE mode) you can name the C24 SSIDs the same as your main router.

The difference would be the physical connection between the two routers - I would prefer the ethernet cable (in AP mode) as you did, for better speed and connectivity.
