Yes, that's correct because you're not using its WAN port anymore, this shouldn't be a major concern.

In this scenario the device time can be set manually and the FW can be upgraded manually as well.

  @Manolisk Update! I connected the Router (wan port) with my modem (Lan Port) having a static wan ip on my router! I port forwarded 1194 to the wan ip and activated the open vpn server! All traffic the router is forwarded through my vpn server! Safest way!!
