Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 5

I have successfully connected my extender where it says my Routername_Ext is 'secured'.  But when I log into the extender, it continually asks me for my network security key.  I have tried my router wifi key and this doesn't work.  I have tried resetting my extender with the same issue.  Would appreciate assistance please.

Here's a video guide setup for your RE. Once you use its network security key for login it should be remembered by the client device.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

When you use the http://tplinkrepeater.net make sure that you're connected to the REs wireless SSID.

If the issue persists use the REs IP address to login. Its default Ip address is http://192.168.0.254

If you set its IP address to be obtained by your main router's DHCP server, find its IP address in the router's DHCP client list.

Tip: You could use your main router DHCP address reservation to bind RE's MAC address to a particular IP address.

I really appreciate your assistance, Thank you. Unfortunately I am not sure what an RE is or where to find the SSID. Are you able to give a bit more direction. I have a router and am trying to connect the extender to the router. I have also tried the tplinkrepeater.com address using my router as well as a hotspot on my mobile phone. Both bring up the help page and not the admin page. Not sure if that helps you understand my challenge better? Thanks Alan

Reset the RE to its factory defaults by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds. Use a PC with an ethernet card and set its IP address to 192.168.0.2.

Connect the PC with an ethernet cable to the RE and use the http://192.168.0.254 or http://tplinkrepeater.net to get into the WebGUI of the RE.

I have described a few ways to access your RE web management page.

You have to find a suitable option to use among these because there's no other available.

Probably installing a Tether app would be your last resort managing the RE.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

@terziyski I have managed to connect my RE AT LAST!  Thank you.  :)  However, when I go back to use ROUTER wifi, it connects with no problem but there is no response.  This happens on my mobile and my laptop after 1st successfully testing both on the RE.

My wife (who did not connect to the RE at all) has no issues still connecting to the router.  Any ideas?

You can do a ping test with your laptop when it is connected either with your main router or with the RE.

If the RE is with an IP address 192.168.0.254 start a ping to see if you have connectivity to the RE.

This should give you an idea if you're experiencing a connectivity issue or not:

Have you tried to install Tether app and see if you can manage the RE with your mobile.
