Dear Support,

we are using RE365 for connecting wired devices to existing wifi infrastructure but are facing issues with Hardware Version 2.0.

During DHCP troubleshooting, we noticed that RE365 Ver:2.0 modifies DHCP DISCOVER differently than RE365 Ver:1.0.

Version 1.0 is modifying Source MAC Address and client identifier by replacing vendor id with b2:a7:b8, which is perfectly fine.

Version 2.0 is replacing the whole Source MAC Address, but leaves the client identifier as it is, which creates trouble when using DHCP snooping and other security functions.

RE365 DHCP settings are set to 'Off'. Behaviour does not change when switching to 'Auto'.

Is it possible to get the same behavior with version 2.0 as with version 1.0?

Thanks in advance for your response.

  @AlexHe

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.
RE365_V1 uses Proxy mode, while RE365_V2 uses three Address Mode/Many-to-one Mode.

Their ways of dealing with MAC addresses are a little bit different:

I'm afraid It can't be changed via the firmware upgrade yet.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks David for your reply and the detailed explanation.

Since it is dramatically change in behaviour which is not officially documented and which affects also our clients business, the cautious question: when we can expect a software update that will restore the functionality?

Best,

Alex
