Model: TL-SG105
Hardware Version: V7
Firmware Version:

A couple of weeks ago I bought a TV and ever since I am having issues to have it connected to Internet.

(1Gbps Fiber) Modem --> Asus Router RT-AC88U-->TL-SG105 switch-->TV

Mostly TV doesn't start using the 'conventional' method, i.e. using the power button on the remote control.

I may try that a dozen times, waiting in for 1-2 or 3 minutes in between, nothing happens.
In fact I may push any button on the remote, nothing happens.

As a last resort using off and on switch on the power strip solves the matter.

(BTW Did not try to remove the switch to see whether problems continue)

Somewhere, someone wrote about 'energy saving' mode, or something and disabling that(?)

The TL-SG105 has some 'Green Ethernet technology' on board, but I wouldn't how to disable that.

Probably I can't.

Somewhere elise I read about IGMP Snooping (really I have not faintest idea what it is)
In the Asus router, section IPTV, it says

Use DHCP routes: Microsoft

Enable multicase routing (IGMP Proxy): disabled

Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping): disable

UDP Proxy; 0

Section: Dual WAN:  Primary WAN is set to WAN.

Q: are there any settings that may help to solve the problem?

Thank you.

p.s.: re-discovered the thread about this 'power saving mode' - it is on Reddit

pretty much the same situation, same hardware. It is not my thread...

TL-SG105 is an unmanaged switch, thus it doesn't have any settings to change - it's a plug 'n' play device.

Here's how green-ethernet technology works and I think the issue is not caused by this technology.

Here's the TP-Link Green Technology implementation:

You can try to isolate the switch and test if there's any difference.

Thank you for your elaborate response. Truly appreciated. Theoretically things should work fine and often they do, That I have to admit. It is just frustrating to see that often they don't. I think I will take out the switch the next time it happens and see what will happen then. Just as an attempt to isolate the problem. That aside and off-topic: this 'green-ethernet technology', I am sure it serves its purposes. Maybe I am overlooking it, but I think it is not mentioned either on the box or in the leaflet in the box, making it a bit difficult to establish the savings over a year. Could you shed some light on this? Thanks again.

The materials that I posted are publicly available, but If you want to know more about the TP-Link's implementation of this technology, its best to contact them.
