Hello all

I own TP-Link NX510V router (4G/5G, Wi-Fi 6, AX3000). It's fine, but the signal doesn't cover whole house, so I want to buy RE700X/RE705X repeater to use EasyMesh technology.

The plan is to connect them using cable for avoiding Wi-Fi bottleneck, i.e. NX510V <-> RE705X. However I also have plenty of LAN devices I want to connect to RE705X. It has only one port though. The question is, whether I can use a common switch to connect my LAN devices and NX510V to RE705X, so RE705X is connected with NX510V in EasyMesh system and also provides the LAN devices?

RE705X <-> switch with devices: NX510V, LAN1, LAN2, LAN3

Thanks for help

Hi,

There is only one Ethernet port on the two models, RE700X and RE705X.

If you want to connect it to the NX510v with Ethernet cable, then you need to change the operation mode to AP mode.

If it works in RE mode, then the Ethernet cable can be used to connect wired back end device.

In this case, you can connect a switch to it to connect more wired devices.

Wait. So in RE mode, I can connect many LAN devices, but not NX510V? What does RE even mean, can it work as mesh extender, i.e. smooth transition between RE705X and NX510V on same Wi-Fi name? And in the AP mode case, the LAN devices are not possible, but is the mesh active, i.e. smooth transition on same network name? Thanks
