I have a 500 mbps router and when i use the extender om 2.4 or 5ghz i am only getting 30-90 mbps and on ethernet i am getting 30-80 mbps. How can i fix this because this is very slow compared to the router speed.

Hi,

I am afraid the only way to "fix" this would be to decrease the distances between the Wi-Fi router and the extender (and also the distance between extender and Wi-Fi client device, if applicable), even though doing that somewhat defeats actual the purpose of the extender.

By the way, even in the most ideal conditions (placed right next to the router) a RE330 won't be faster than around 230 Mbps when used as Wi-Fi range extender and also via Ethernet you are limited to a maximum of 100 Mbps, because the RE330 is equipped with an 100 Mbps Ethernet port.

  @woozle hello, I tried using the extender right next to the router and test the speed and it was still the same.

What are the Wi-Fi specifications of the router and the client device you are using? Do both support at least 2x2 MIMO and 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5)?

  @woozle yes it does it uses 2x2 mimo on 2.4ghz and 3x3 mimo on 5ghz with 802.11ac

Ok, but verify your client device (smartphone or whatever) is also a 2x2 design.

When you perform speedtests also make sure nobody else is actively using your Wi-Fi network at the same time.

You can also try to whether there is an improvement if you only connect the RE330's 5GHz "Host Network" to the router. Personally I have made better experiences this way, rather than connecting both bands and letting the extender decide what is best for me.

  @Farooq5

Uncheck the 2.4GHz Network in the "Host Network" section and then click [SAVE].

  @woozle I already done that and it doesn't make a difference with the speed

Then there must be something else affecting the performance of the extender. But I have no idea what it is.
