Hi my Archer C9 has been extremely reliable but hasn't had a firmware update since May 2016.

Given the patches that Linux has had since then, recent issues found by DLink and the number of firmware updates other routers get, is it safe to continue to run please?

BTW, I use the C9 as a router from my Virgin cable box with a BT whole home mesh network providing

any advice gratefully received

kind regards Malc

The Archer C9 v1 is not safe to run on 8+ year firmware due to security risks, performance issues, compatibility with new technologies, and manufacturer support issues. Firmware updates often address vulnerabilities, so running outdated firmware may expose the device to known threats. Additionally, outdated firmware may limit the router's ability to function optimally with newer technology. It is recommended to update the firmware to the latest stable version available from the manufacturer's website, ensuring compatibility with the new firmware version.

@Digiteeruk Please check TP-Link End of Life Products
Your router is long past EOL so, no, it not safe to use.
