Model : TD-W8951ND

Hardware Version : V5

Firmware Version : 5.1

ISP : MTNL Broadband India

Hello Sir ,
I have got a problem with my this router , it connects to internet well ,but it frequently disconnects .
Settings are :-
VPI/VCI = 0/32
ATM QoS = UBR pCR = 0
ISP :- PPPoA/PPPoE
Encapsulation PPPoE LCC
Connection :- Always On
IP addr :- Dynamic
Nat :- Enable
Default Route :-Yes
TCP MTU Option TCP MTU 1480
Dynamic Route RIP2-B Dir :- Both
Multicast Disabled
IGMP Snoop Enabled
DHCP enabled

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin: 6.0 7.0 db
Line Attenuation:47.2 25.6 db
Data Rate :1622 509 kbps
Max Rate :2528 1998 kbps
CRC: 57 3

I have other wired modem (provided by ISP ) it works well without disconnect , but this router disconnects at least once each 20 to 30 mins (its random)
Whatever i searched on google , i learnt that SNR numbers are low , they should be near 11 dB , so what can i do to improve my SNR numbers and make a stable connection ? I dont understand why router provided by ISP do not disconnect , but this do ?

Other Info :-
The router provided by ISP shows SNR margin as 7.5 dB (downstream ) 11.2 dB (upstream) and it never disconnects , I dont know the company which manufactured that router , but its model number is T-KD 318-MI

Thank you

Make MTU = 1492. Also you seem to have a line problem, Attenuation is way too high & snr is low, when you have a line problem it tends to fluctuate & <10 ot will disconnect. If you are in Mumbai call 1504 or 198.
Do you get any disturbance in your tel instrument?
Do you have a parallel tel line? Do you use a splitter?

Hello , It seems i do have some problem in wire ( i.e. when net is working and a call comes , it has noise (disturbance at background) ) but still, the modem provided by MTNL (ISP) works well without disconnect
I dont understand , what is problem with this modem , while ISP provided modem is now showing
SNR Margin 15.5db 12.0db dB ( dos this changes time by time ? i.e diff in morning , then diff in afternoon etc?)
Line Attenuation 41.0db 22.0db dB
Loss of Signal 0 0
CRC Errors 0 0
Data Rate 2041 Kbps 509 Kbps kbps
Latency Interleaved Interleaved

current shown in tp link router is
SNR Margin:13.1 11.3 db
Line Attenuation:49.1 25.5 db
Data Rate:2047 509 kbps
Max Rate:5468 2203 kbps
CRC:0 0

Attenuation depends on your distance from the exchange, it also indicates if you have 'line problems' & in your case its v high& your snr is v close to the boderline. That the MTNL provided does not DC means its more tolerant to 'noise'. In my case when there is a line problem my attenuation jumps to 38 (it does not mean I am going further away from the exchange :D but indicates noise in the line). Call the number I have given above.1504/198. From your end you can clean the junctions/sockets/terminals of your wires/splitters/junction box of dust & check for corrosion as the problem gets aggravated during the monsoon.
