TD-W8970 ADSL2+ Modulation Problem

ISP : MTNL
ADSL Subscribed Connection speed 24*7: DL:2048kbps UL:512kbps
Old Router: Linksys WAG54G2 ADSL2+ (2009) (Latest Firmware Upgraded)
New Router: TP LINK TD-W8970 ADSL2+ (2013) (Latest Firmware Upgraded)
I had a Linksys WAG54G2 ADSL2+ router..... but upgraded to this W8970......
On the Linksys WAG54G2 I use ADSL2+ modulation and get 200-210KBps DL speeds with ping to EU arnd 170ms..
Now on the TPLINK W8970 I am getting DL speeds capped to 140-141KBps and ping increased to 195ms to same EU servers with ADSL2+ modulation....... Why is this???...... Why is my speed getting capped??....... bcoz of which ping is also increasing....
But if I chg modulation on W8970 to G.dmt...... I get usual DL speeds of 200-210KBps and 170ms ping to EU..... but max attainable rate goes down frm 22700kbps to just 6300kbps...... which is not a concern now but if I want to upgrade to MTNL's new 8Mbps plan it will hamper my speeds then....
So the main question is why is the W8970 capping speed on ADSL2+ modulation??

The "Current Rate" on ADSL2+ / Auto Sync-up remains same..... at 2044kbps DL and 504kbps UL....... so tht is according to my ISP plan.......
On G.dmt "Current Rate" is also same....... at 2048kbps DL and 512kbps UL.....
By Default the router was set to "Auto Sync-up" and "Annex A/L"...... I even tried it after ur post...... but if I chk in "Status" page it auto selects ADSL2+........ and the problem of speed capping persists.......
I have tried ADSL2+ with all available Annex types as well....... but no use.....
On ADSL2+ "Max Rate" downstream is ~22700kbps...... whereas on G.dmt is ~6000kbps....... still G.dmt gives full 210KBps DL speed....... and ADSL2+ caps speed at 140KBps DL.....
