MTS launched two versions of ZTE AC2792 ultra dongles which you can see if you seperately install Mblaze UI. (1) AC2792.01 (usually black color dongle) (2) AC2792.02 (usually white color dongle)
AC2792.01 (black) is fully compatible with TL MR3040 and works perfectly. But it won't works with AC2792.02 version of dongle atm.

Sir I have a white ZTE AC2792 MTS dongle. I wanted it to connect to TP Link MR3020 router. But after upgrading the firmware of the router, it managed to connect to modem and access internet only once. Thereafter, router status page always showed modem unplugged even after multiple reboots.
I again installed the latest firmware and again for the first time after firmware update it managed to connect and let me access the internet via modem but later on it never connected. Can you please help me with the problem?

Does any one know if MR3020 is compatible with Airtel 4g Yet ? I have seen users Using Airtel 4G LTE since sept 2013. I guess TP-Link Engineering should have relased a Modem Driver by now.

i also bought TP MR3020 last week and m using MTS Mblaze Ultra White AC2792 dongle. as u said it connects only one time, same is happening with me i tried so many things but still status shows unplugged. so i found one solution and m sure it will help u. first switch off the modem, insert ur dongle and then slide the switch to WISP or AP and switch on the modem and then wait 1-2 min after dat dont switch off the modem just again slide switch to 3G/4G and then wait for 2 min it will connect. m also using like this, this irritates but we dont have any other option. One more thing when u select India and MTS in 3G/4G settings then go to Advanced Settings and tick the button 'Set the Dial Number, APN, Username and Password manually' and check all settings are fine or not then save it. beacuse if u dont do this after dongle identified it automatically changes the settings to Idea which will never connects.

I purchased TPlink MR3020 modem 3 days ago. Actually the major problem im facing with this modem is the frequent disconnection after 10 minutes and also most of the time it doesn't connect again. Also even thought i set the connection as MTS on setup after restarting the modem the setting again go to Idea as default and stops working. So i request you to help me in resolving this problem and use my modem efficiently.

as i told in the previous comment dat after selecting India and MTS click Save and then go to Advanced Settings and click the tick for Set the Dial Number, APN, Username and Password manually. and check all settings should be fine and click Save. After doing this method when you restart modem it wont identify as a Idea modem. So give a try and tell us if it works or not.

Last week one more firmware came by TPLink "TL-MR3020_V1_140610"
I tired this version with my MTS AC2792 but still same problem. Need to start in WISP or AP mode and then switch back to 3G after 1 min. It irritates every time when connections drops because of network issues and again the same method is needed to turn on the Internet. With last firmware version i mailed to TPLink customer care they gave one old version to test it but same problem was coming after that they replied me this:

"Dear Sir,

Good day,

As this data card is not working properly with our all routers and not listed in our compatibility list.

This seems some network issue we will send the information to our R&D for analyze the same."

So dont know when will the fix this issue.
