Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TD-W8980

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version :

ISP : Sky Fibre

Hi, does the latest TP-Link(TD-W9980) VDSL modem/router work with Sky Fibre as they must support in ATM and PPP Protocols > MAC encapsulated routing (RFC 1483 MER) to do so?

Or is TP-Link working on this?

Cheers,
Krss.

Configuration parameters have to be confirmed with your ISP. For BT service, as I know, connection type is PPPoE and VLAN ID is 101. You may give a try.

Vdsl IPoE support
2014-11-08 05:19:51
Hi,
I'd like to know if IPoA is supported for vdsl interface.
I have an italian ISP on VDSL2 that requires the following settings:

RCF1483 routed (static ip - IPoA)
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Encapsulation: LLC
IpLan IP address and Point to Point IP address (I have both, not sure if both necessary...)

If supported, where do I have to set theese? Do I have to telnet some commands through command line?
Can't see any place in the GUI to achieve that.

Thanks

Hi Efrael, after choosing VDSL2 mode, we can configure the connection type. For VDSL2 mode, it supports PPPOE, Dynamic IP, Static IP and Bridge. It doesn't support PPPOA or IPOA any more. The reason is that VDSL2 totally replaces ATM technology with PTM, which will greatly improved transferring efficiency.

Thank you Ada. So how can I configure the router according to my ISP provider settings? Will static Ip mode and Ptm work fine for the given parameters?
Choosing VDSL2 I can only specify vlan id and in the next page I can only set the static ip and few other options.
Will the router do the rest?

Thx

Did you get static IP(IP address, subnet, gateway, DNS etc.) and VLAN ID from your ISP? If you did, you can try. Or double check configuration parameters with your ISP as it is not quite clear.

I have static IP, DNS, VPI: 8, VCI: 35, Encapsulation: LLC

I don't have VLAN Id and actually I don't know what is it but I can try to ask my ISP.

I'll let you know

Thanks
