Region : Denmark

Model : TL-WA801ND

Hardware Version : V2

Firmware Version : TL-WA801ND_V2_140425

ISP :

I just ended a bit of digging, and thought I would share:

I have IPv6 on my network, and it used to work on wireless

After upgrading the firmware to TL-WA801ND_V2_140425, multicast no longer works.
As IPv6 depends on multicast, the clients do not get an IPv6 address, do not receive a gateway,
and even when you assign them static IPv6 addresses, they cannot find each other as that also
depends on multicast.

Downgrading to the older TL-WA801ND_V2_130121 does work with both multicast and IPv6, so something got broken, or was lost, in the newer firmware.

I have been back and forth in firmware versions a few times on two different 801NDs, it is reliably reproducible, on Windows, Mac, Linux, and FreeBSD clients.

/KKP

Before someone suggests turning off IPv6, there are machines that I need to talk to that do not HAVE IPv4 addresses.

What mode are you using? Access Point mode?

Yes, as-simple-as-possible access point mode. The only things I have set, after loading the fimware (which gives a reset to default) is ssid,region,channel=1, and security to WPA2-PSK,AES

IPV6 link local communication is based on specified multicast address format, maybe this model doesn't support IPV6

I have contacted the support of TP-LINK, they said a new firmware for TL-WA801ND V2 is coming, let's see this firmware will handle this issue.

Cheers
